Lines-of-Code Is a Useful Measure of Nothing.

But it’s still fun to track. Here then are some stats.

Total Lines of Code = 15,212

Total Number of Files = 705

Breakdown by programming language:
PHP: 10360 (68.10%)
sh: 4030 (26.49%)
Perl: 822 (5.40%)

Estimated Development Effort, Person-Years = 3.49 (41.8 mo.)
(Person-Months = 2.4 * (LOC * 1.05))

Estimated Average Number of Developers = 4.05

Total Estimated Cost to Develop = $470,909
(average salary = $56,286/year, overhead = 2.40)

generated w David A. Wheeler’s ‘SLOCCount‘.

I think these stats are meaningless in terms of estimating actual projects because of the huge variations in programmer productivity (v. FP Brooks) but they’re fun. Where’s my $470,909? :-)
